TAMPA BAY CRIMINAL TRAFFIC BLOG: Man Charged With Street Racing, Reckless Driving And Vehicular Homicide Found Guilty

The tragic story of a man that lost his wife of more than 60-years came to an end in a Hillsborough County courtroom on Wednesday when Roger Yeager was found guilty of reckless driving, vehicular homicide and street racing. The St. Petersburg Times reports that Yeager is facing at least 15 years in prison for the car accident that cost 83-year-old Vertis Ryan her life.

Yeager was found guilty of ramming his Nissan 350Z into the Ford Taurus that Vertis Ryan and her husband William were driving that night. It took jurors three hours to come back with the guilty verdicts. William Ryan never got to see justice in the death of his wife as he passed away from heart failure in August. According to the story sheriff’s investigators estimated that Yeager was driving at more than 100 M.P.H. in a 45 zone when he hit the Ryan’s car.
